Wanderlust: Bali, enlightenment in Ubud

Before I left Australia my mum told me about this place called Ubud where musicians and writers hang out to be inspired, create and relax. Away from the party culture of tourists and muppets travelling to Bali.
As usual mother’s know best and she wasn’t wrong.
Ubud is an incredible place to visit, buzzing with market stalls where I got to practice my new Bahasa Indonesian for bartering, the streets are flowing with activities, temples, nature and of course the monkey forest (which I didn’t visit because monkey’s freak me out).
But we did climb Mount Batur in the wee hours of 2am to witness the sunrise, and what a beautiful sight to see. How nature can be so incredibly perfect by just being alive.
